Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom

Apple Kansas

KFAC has developed an Apple Kansas Lesson Plan Kit for you that covers the topics of land use, natural resources, agriculture production, and many more. This kit includes lessons for each grand band, K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. All lessons are aligned with Next Generation Science Standards and then vary in alignment with Kansas Academic Standards in Language Arts and Math. You will find a model of an apple that visually demonstrates the amount of the earth that is land and water and supports conducting a demonstration on the amount of land that can be used to produce food. The lessons are packed with background information about science topics, Kansas agriculture, and types of land. We have provided a poster, worksheets, and vocabulary to support learning.

Educators can check out this kit at their local educational service center. We ask that you complete the online tracking so we can follow all of the places the kit travels. Use the kit yourself and then share it with a friend. Find your local service center here.
