2024 Professional Development Workshop
Science Through Ag
July 15-17, 2024
Registration fee: $25
Twenty-four teachers will be selected to attend an exclusive Science Through Agriculture Professional Development Workshop, presented by Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom (KFAC). This experiential-based professional development workshop, organized by KFAC in partnership with the Kansas Wheat Innovation Center and Kansas State University, will be held onsite in Manhattan, Kansas July 15-17, 2024 with additional virtual learning to follow. Educators will gain the knowledge and tools they will need to implement science research and practices regarding crop improvement and biotechnology into their classrooms.
Experience the science behind crop improvement, including plant breeding, doubled haploid production, DNA extraction, and genetic engineering methods. Visit Kansas State University's state-of-the-art product development, milling, marketing, and biosecurity facilities. Learn about Kansas agriculture and career opportunities. Classroom topics will include connecting science to tower gardening, data analytics, the apple earth model and natural resources, and using agriculture as the context for the core curriculum. Workshop time will be allotted to translate your learning into the curriculum for your classroom. Science and Agriculture teachers will especially benefit from this workshop, but it is open to all. Graduate credit is available.
This workshop will be limited to 24 participants. Participants will pay $25 when registering for the workshop. A $1,000 travel and hotel stipend is available for participants. Reduced-rate hotel accommodations will be available.
Grow it, Mill it, Bake it

This experiential-based professional development workshop, organized by KFAC in partnership with the Kansas Wheat Innovation Center and Kansas State University, will be held onsite in Manhattan, Kansas July 22-24, 2024, with additional virtual learning to follow.
