KFAC Educator's Guides

Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom offers three educator’s guides for primary school teachers. The Exploring Kansas Farm Animals guide is designed for first and second grade learners; the Exploring Kansas Crops guide is for third and fourth grade learners; and the new Exploring Kansas Natural Resources guide is available for grades fifth and beyond. These educator’s guides include extensive background information, lesson plans, outcomes, activities, worksheets and more.

Kansas teachers: to obtain your free printed copy of an educator’s guide, complete the Educational Resource Request Form [pdf]. A nominal shipping fee is required with your order. Checks or money orders may be made payable to KFAC.

The guides are available to non-teachers and out-of-state individuals for $25. If you are not a Kansas teacher or you do not reside in Kansas but are interested in obtaining an educator’s guide, please contact the KFAC office by phone (785)532-7946 or email ksfac@ksu.edu.

Exploring Kansas Farm Animals

Created for students in first and second grades, this educator guide explores various aspects of the livestock industry, touching upon topics like animal growth to food from Kansas animals to careers within agriculture. Exploring Kansas Crops Educator's Guide coverCreated for third and fourth grade students, this educator’s guide investigates Kansas grains and specialty crops in-depth, covering topics like soils, grains, specialty crops, simple machines and careers in agriculture. This educator’s guide is currently being revised, and the new version will be distributed in late fall 2010; however, KFAC is currently accepting pre-orders for this resource.
